The short answer
Standard UK shower trays are square from 700 x 700mm to 1000 x 1000mm, quadrant from 800mm to 1000mm, and rectangular from 900 x 700mm up to 1800 x 900mm, in widths of 700, 760, 800 and 900mm. Lengths go up in 100mm steps. For a small en-suite, 800 x 800mm or 900 x 900mm are the usual choices; for a main bathroom, 1200 x 800mm or 1200 x 900mm.
Standard UK shower tray sizes
Sizes are length x width in millimetres; 760mm is a hangover from the imperial 2ft 6in. Offset quadrants come in 900 x 760, 1000 x 800, 1200 x 800 and 1200 x 900mm. Here's every size on our shelves today, with how many trays we have in each and the cheapest:

What size shower tray for a small en-suite?
700 and 760mm squares are the smallest standard trays, and they feel it. 800 x 800mm is a real step up for the same corner, and 900 x 900mm leaves room to turn round. In a narrow room, a 1000 x 800mm or 1200 x 700mm rectangle often fits better, and a quadrant's curved front frees up floor. Our shower enclosure buying guide covers doors for tight spaces.
What size for a main bathroom? 1200 x 800 and 1200 x 900mm
1200 x 800mm and 1200 x 900mm are the workhorse family-bathroom sizes, with a 1200mm sliding door or a door and side panel; take the extra 100mm if the room allows. Both come as rectangles in every range we stock, and as offset quadrants in all but ICON White Slate.

For a walk-in with a wetroom screen, go to 1400mm long or more. Replacing a bath? Most UK baths are 1700 x 700mm, so a 1700 x 700mm or 1700 x 800mm tray fills the same space.
How high is a low-profile shower tray?
Every branded tray on our shelves is low profile: 30mm for Giavani Slim and ICON White Slate, 40–45mm for Nuie Pearlstone and 50mm for Merlyn Touchstone. That leaves no room for the trap above the floor, so either the trap drops into the floor or the tray goes up on a leg set or plinth — Nuie's is £77.59. Our stone resin vs acrylic guide compares the materials.
Where should the waste be?
Waste holes sit in the centre, at one end or in a corner; check the product page or the maker's drawing. Choose the position that suits the pipe run: a shower needs a 40mm (1½") waste pipe with a steady fall, and under a timber floor it's far easier to run between the joists than through them.
Every Giavani, JT, Nuie, Merlyn and ICON tray we stock takes a 90mm waste (shower traps and wastes); ICON White Slate includes one. Reusing an older tray? Measure the hole, as smaller sizes are still around.
How to match a tray to an enclosure
- Door in a recess: the same width as the tray.
- Door and side panel: one for each side — a 1200 x 800mm tray takes a 1200mm door and an 800mm panel.
- Quadrant, offset quadrant or corner entry enclosure: a quadrant, offset (in the right hand) or square tray of exactly the same size.
- Walk-in: a long, low tray with a wetroom screen.
Every ICON door and enclosure lists the trays that fit it, and our measuring guide shows how to check the walls before you order the glass.
